Uncle Henry´s Universe.

About the blog

I have no heavy training... Barely Elementary School. Preferred the wilderness, it became my university, but I got muddy boots and experience instead of School knowledge so my English was therefore quite inadequate. This blog is a project to improve my skills in English language.

We all have our own universe, welcome to visit mine.

Christmas is over.

Everyday life Posted on Mon, December 29, 2014 14:12

Our corn sheaf this year was extra packed, so as oat sheaves looked in
the past. Some birds visiting it have not received this Christmas either,
sparrows do not come here until closer to spring, but it is an ornament and
related to Christmas.

This morning it took an end to both Christmas and the sheaf, and that’s
okay. Roe deer also need to have a good time during those harsh days.

Darkest time.

Everyday life Posted on Fri, December 26, 2014 10:06

The winter solstice is just passed and slowly, very slowly, the days grow slightly longer and the nights slightly shorter.

Now is the darkest time of the year and our
farm rests for a time in the shade although the occasional ray of sunshine finds
its way through the branches. This morning it was 26 degrees below zero, grimly
with the first real cold before you become accustomed.

Late at Christmas Eve, when we were out to the wooden storehouse with Santa’s
porridge (an important tradition that we never miss!),offered nature an unusually clear starry sky which was also painted with Northern Lights. Amazing, it was a really evocative Christmas night.

1 Advent

Everyday life Posted on Sun, November 30, 2014 17:15

Our Advent
lighting is limited to 16 lights in a row at our grain store. Think it looks
nice, it gives some Christmas spirit.

Our new
neighbors (fortunately just over one km away), have different taste for light
decorations. There shines 60,000 lights. (Only got half of them on photo)

16 will be
enough for us, we buy no more. You have to know when you’re defeated!smiley

Weather dependent!

Everyday life Posted on Sat, February 08, 2014 19:06

Heavy snow
beds around and hides the older tracks but tomorrow are there new stories to
read.

Winter again!

Monday
morning, 25 degrees below zero and frosty wolf tracks. Cozy!

Everyday life magic.

Everyday life
sometimes contains magic, as during an evening walking in Krakow, she was worth
every penny in the bitterly cold December wind.

Happy New Year!

Everyday life Posted on Tue, December 31, 2013 12:06

An old year
is behind us, maybe with some flaws but also with clear memories of what has
been good. A new year lies ahead, still fresh and unconsumed. Open the window
and let the inspiration flow! (Façade from Krakow)

I took an
afternoon tour yesterday and enjoyed good tracks from both wolves and lynx. Did
not note, took no pictures. Free from work, one has to have a hobby too 😉

Also came
across two hawk owl. Still plenty of small rodents, perhaps the owls stay
another season before they turn back to the north.

Winter Solstice.

Everyday life Posted on Sun, December 22, 2013 14:02

Now again
comes the light. First, it’s tentative, a minute longer daylight, then
increasing until midsummer. Wonderful!

The
pictures are from a fantastic day in wolf grooves, last week, when I followed 7
wolves through the home grounds. It became a long day of tracking in the
mountains, followed by an even longer walk along forest roads to reach the car.

A hawk owl
kept me company for a while, a silhouette in the moonlight. I really felt that
I took to be the day, took to be my life!

Merry
Christmas and Happy New Year to you!

1001 Inventions!

Everyday life Posted on Sat, November 16, 2013 11:38

At the
museum in Karlstad is currently undergoing an amazing exhibition on science and
innovation from a historical perspective from the Muslim world. It have
previously appeared in a few world cities such as London, Istanbul, New York,
Los Angeles, Washington DC and now as the only viewing in Scandinavia,
Karlstad.

It is an
incomparable journey through advanced cultures with exciting people and
revolutionary discoveries, ranging from skilled surgeons to flying caliphs and
female security chiefs. When one looks around in the world today, cannot help
but wonder, what the h… happen?
